We are looking for an IT Systems Support Engineer


General Summary:  

Dominion Voice and Data is a fast-growing IT Managed Service Provider located in Richmond, VA. Ware in need of exceptional team members who are as passionate about performance and continuous learning as we are. We’re blessed to have a number of clients who are expanding rapidly and we’re growing with them. We’re currently looking for IT Engineers with a strength in Wireless Network environments. Many advancement opportunities abound within our organization, and we need more positive, smart, hardworking folks to join our team. 


Our IT/systems support engineers are responsible for implementing, maintaining, supporting, developing and designing communication networks within our client’s organizations and within our own organization. Additionally, the engineer will be responsible for troubleshooting, diagnosing and resolving problems and sharing data in our ticketing system. In addition to technical aptitudes and experience, the position requires good communication skills, an ability for keeping others calm in stressful situations, and a recognition that tickets and projects have people connected to them. Our company culture rewards (and expects) our team members to exhibit pride in seeing things through to completion, along with quality customer outcomes.  


Our ideal candidate would have: 

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, particularly the ability to articulate technical information to non-technical clients/staff 
  • The ability to take on a variety of tasks and with attention to detail  
  • The ability to feel comfortable working with teams, clients and independently 
  • Experience in incident management and service request management 
  • Creative problem solving and analytical skills with attention to detail 
  • Strong organizational skills and the ability to prioritize workload
  • The Ability to quickly learn new or unfamiliar technology and products using documentation and internet resources

Our ideal candidate would have thorough knowledge of: 

  • LAN, WAN and WLAN Networking technology and principles 

  • Network infrastructure devices, wireless APs, firewalls, routers, switches and controllers 

  • Network troubleshooting tools, processes and methodologies 

  • Desktop and Server computer systems, software, mobile devices, and related hardware

As a network engineer, some or your tasks will be: 
  • Establishing networking environments, designing system configurations, performing system installations and upgrades 
  • Monitoring performance, troubleshooting network problems and outages, scheduling upgrades and collaborating with other teams and vendors on projects 
  • Configuring routing and switching equipment, hosted IP voice services and firewalls 
  • Provide remote and onsite support to end users/customers 
  • Provide remote and onsite troubleshooting and problem identification as issues occur
  • Undertake capacity management and audit of IP addressing and hosted devices within data client networks 

Ideal qualifications: 

  • BA in IT, Computer Science or similar relevant field – or equivalent experience 
  • Four or more years of experience working experience in same or related field 
  • Extensive Wireless Network Experience is highly desired, especially HP Aruba specifically, although foundational knowledge trumps specific manufacturer training 
  • A love of continuous learning in a fast-paced environment 
  • Experience with Ekahau software a plus
