At DVD Networks, we're proud to support our veterans in any way we can. And when we learned about Tech for Troops and its mission to empower veterans with computers, skills, and Information Technology (IT) workforce training, we knew we had to get involved. Thanksgiving is a time to give thanks for all that we have—and what better way than by helping those who have given so much.
The week of Thanksgiving our team got the chance to visit the Tech for Troops headquarters and learn more about their inspiring work. We were blown away by everything they do! During our visit Tech for Troops President and CEO Mark Casper gave our team a tour of their headquarters, highlighting each department's achievements, and how T4T supports veterans by collecting used technology that would usually end up in landfills, then refurbishing the laptops and other devices.
“As a Veteran myself it means so much to be able to help and give back to fellow Veterans who need it most,” says Mark Casper, President of Tech For Troops. “I am also personally honored and excited that Dominion Voice and Data has provided computers and volunteer support to Tech For Troops in our mission to eradicate Veteran homelessness and poverty.”

Our team spent the remainder of the afternoon breaking down and dismantling computers destined for recycling, organizing memory cards, and preparing hard drives for data destruction. To round out the afternoon, DVD Networks presented Tech for Troops with 16 new and unused Microsoft Surface Pro X laptops and keyboards, a total contribution totaling $49,000 to support the organization's mission to empower veterans and their families through technology education and resources. These new laptops will be used by Veterans for training and personal use.
We are so grateful to have been able to spend the day with T4T, and we're so thankful to them for their work helping veterans and their families.
"Thanksgiving is my favorite time of year, as it’s a perfect time to reflect on the many blessings we enjoy as a company and turn our attention to others," says Steve Smith, partner and CEO at Dominion Voice and Data. "In this spirit, several of our team members had a great time working with the team at Tech for Troops by breaking down and categorizing PC parts for use in their mission. Additionally, we provided 16 new laptops to be used by Veterans in need of vocational training and education."
"Thank you to Mark Casper and everyone at T4T for allowing us to participate in your vision of turning donations into training, education and technology for Veterans and their families. Your work is worthy of support, and we enjoyed every minute with you all."

About Tech for Troops: Tech For Troops was started in Richmond, Virginia by a mother and son team who were passionate about military veterans in need and wanted to do something to help. In 2013 after hearing about the force reductions and the huge number of returning soldiers, they decided to collect used PCs and Macs, refurbish them, and provide them to veterans’ support organizations. Since then they have grown to support veterans nationwide and continue to look for ways to offer workforce support and training. https://techfortroops.org/donate |
